1854 Rare Wines & Gifts is still under construction, but the vision is already clear. The space is taking shape day by day, and with every decision — from layout to lighting — we’re building the kind of place we’ve always wished existed in Opelika.
We chose the name 1854 because it’s part of the city’s story. It’s the year Opelika was chartered, and it reflects how deeply connected we feel to this community. We’ve spent most of our lives here, watched Main Street grow and transform, and now we’re excited to add something new to that momentum.
At the heart of this project is something simple: we love people, and we love wine. Wine has a way of bringing folks together — slowing things down, opening conversations, and creating moments that feel easy and real. That’s the atmosphere we want to create. A place where you feel welcome the moment you walk in, where we’ll know your name, and where community isn’t just a concept — it’s the experience.
One of the features we’re most excited about is our community table. It’s a place where you can sit down, meet someone new, and enjoy a glass of wine without feeling rushed or out of place. A modern nod to the old Cheers bar — the kind of spot where you can walk in on your own and still feel like you’re among friends.
We’re also creating a space for live music, but the kind that complements the evening rather than competes with it. Music you can enjoy while talking with friends, discovering a new favorite wine, or simply taking a breath after a long day.
Right now, we’re in the messy, exciting middle of construction. Walls are going up, ideas are becoming real, and every step brings us closer to opening our doors.
We’re grateful you’re here at the start of this journey.1854 Rare Wines & Gifts is on the way — and we can’t wait to welcome you in.
